I don't know the sites and such, but I know of PRWEB and DPDirectory. They both offer great service. What I always do is have DPDirectory write and send the press release to all the magazine editors and such (email) and then send the same press release to PRWEB. Works great.

I've used prweb.com a couple of times and I've been happy with their services but I've used the paid option which gets you into Yahoo news and Google news and a few more. I know they offer a free service too. To get access to the information on the different services you're going to have to register. Try it out, it's free to sign up.
