server from behind firewall/router

I installed just the default web server stuff in FC3. All the latest obviously, from base & updates.

Got it all configured, so I can get the Fedora test page going.
It works fine as http://localhost/, but when I do the IP addy, or my DynDNS host, it asks me for my password.
With the password being the userass for my router.

How do I go about bypassing the router, so that it looks at my PC alone? I thought about turning off NAT, which is probably fine... just make it a straight through modem. But I don't want that.

Any hints?

Is it the ROUTER askign for the password???

Regardless, an external http request is going to come to your router first (which is assigned the IP address), and the router must know what to do with it. In your case, it needs to forward it to your Linux PC running apache.

Set up port forwarding for port 80 (http) to the internal IP address of your apache box. (usually 192.168.x.x)

yep. it's the router asking for the password.
I forwarded port 80, put in the password that it still asks for, and it just takes me to the router config page.

I haven't been able to check if it's just because I'm sitting here at the PC. It could be different for an actual "external" pc.
Feel like testing it for me? Clicky

Thanks.

Oh. If it comes up with the router asking for a password, can you remove the link?
I don't really want idiots having access to my router.

yep... I just put the NucleusCMS stuff on there.
So it's just a me problem, not an actual server problem.
Good to know

Thanks.
