RMA iPod, lose cables and adapter too?

I'm soon going to buy Applecare for my 1st gen iPod mini. One thing I like about it now is that it came with a USB and Firewire cable, along with a power adapter. I'm pretty sure I'm right, but is it safe to assume that if I were to return it, I would have to send back everything that came with it, including cables and adapter? Could you not claim that you lost them?

That's the only thing keeping me from wanting mine to be replaced with a Nano

(While I'm here, didn't Jobs say that the Nano would fit in things like typical iPod docks? Would this hold true for iPod mini docks?)

As long as your mini is still under it's original warranty then you can still pickup AppleCare. How are you going to return a 1st gen mini this late in the game? But yes, if you were to return something, all accessories must be included, else you can be charged for the cost of those accessories. It all depends on the retailer's policy.

Jobs said that it still had the 30pin connector in the bottom that would allow you to use some of the same accessories. It is not a good idea to put a Nano in a normal iPod dock, or a mini dock for that matter, just like it isn't a good idea to put a mini in a "normal" dock. The iPod will not fit snug in the dock and is prone to move around and break something.

i just sent in my ipod to apple, but they send u a box to put ur ipod in and i didnt include any of my cable, um and they havent phoned me accusing me of apple rape so i guess im ok

He is simply trying to return the product in hopes of getting a Nano, as opposed to getting it serviced (which is what you are referencing). If you are going to return a product, the stipulation is that you return everything that came with it.
