    ISP antivirus

Ok i was walking down the street and seen a ad for TELUS Anti-Virus with Ad Block, more info here
My question is does this really work? and whats the point of have spending lots of $$$ on a AV if you can just get it done by your isp, if your isp automatically scans what ever you do for viruses and updates it in real time?

I wouldn't recommend it. If you're looking for a free solution, go with AVG or AntiVir.

It's worth noting that an ISP COULD scan your traffic, email is easy and done by many ISPs, but actual protocol traffic like http, ftp etc can be scanned as it flows. It's an expensive, slow, touchy business though so if anything you're ISP will do exactly what MXXConn has said, they'll offer you a simple 'lite' client for a free (like McAfee's Virusscan ASAP), and then potentially offer email AV scanning and spam filtering. Email AV scanning is pretty easy to implement, its just a matter of policy. Spam filtering is a bit harder in an ISP environment where the customer is always right.
