There isn't anything good about the bot. Since the bot came out, it has really slowed edonkey down. The only reason for someone to use the bot is the faster search. But that isn't even a big deal. The rest of the options are useless. And while the faster search may be nice, it clogs up the edonkey servers. The bo doesn't help you dl stuff faster...or help you find any more sources. Its only hurting the edonkey program itself. Go over to any edonkey forum. The bot is just for people who don't know how to run edonkey, nor do they want to learn.

i disagree.


1st few versions of the bot were indeed very bad for the network.


but v0.9 is actualy good


it doesn't hammer servers as much. and it does actualy improve download speed. by changing file priority on common files you can alocate more connections to more rare files.


it also update server list pretty nicely. and restart edonkey if d/ls stall for some reason.

best place to talk about this would actually be on their forums. of course everyone there uses it and they know what to tell you. it is not a guarantee that any of these people use it.





and the issue is it strains the servers too much. these are just normal peoples computers and they cant support all that. if it were me and i had a server i may just shut it down if bots were killing my actual speed to run programs.
