    Convert Ext3 to FAT32

    20.000 Softwares download here

Hi, after installing Linux Red Hat 9 Dual-Booting with Windows Xp.

    I faced I quite problem:

[ / ]root partition is EXT3 file system so windows xp can not read nor write to this partition.

Now, I need to convert this file system to FAT32 so as to be available for both linux and xp.

    I use Partition Magic.

I just face a bit Trick when converting the file system,

that is the lable of the partition is [ / ]

and Partition Magic ask for a vaild label.

Is it allowed to give it another lable [ than / ] with out affecting Linux root partition?

If not, I can resize the whole partition into two ones and format the free space as FAT32

for XP os [ also will be available for Linux ], But does it harm the Linux os?

Now, Both Linux Red Hat 9 and Windows XP are working very well and I keep working on both.

I don't want to loose any of them!

    waiting for a response....

FAT32 does not support file permissions so I really don't think you will have much joy doing things the way you want to. An easier solution might just be to install the EXT3 driver for XP so you can just read the disk contents off the drive without any conversion. A quick google should find you the driver you need.
